Tuition built around the individual
One-to-one English tuition gives students the time and individual attention that can be difficult to achieve in a busy classroom.
Each session is tailored to the student - whether they need to strengthen their foundations, build confidence, improve their analytical writing or refine their exam technique.
Tuition designed for progress
For students looking for ongoing support, regular tuition is booked in half-term blocks, allowing us to build knowledge and skills progressively rather than treating each lesson in isolation.
Working together consistently means I can get to know each student's strengths and areas for development, respond to their progress and build each session on what we've already achieved.
Not ready to commit to a block? You can begin with an individual session before deciding whether regular tuition is right for your child.
Before tuition begins, I offer a free consultation call with a parent or carer. This is an opportunity to discuss your child's current experience of English, where they would most benefit from support and what you're hoping tuition will achieve.
I'll explain how I work, answer any questions and we can discuss whether 1:1 tuition with English, Explained could be the right fit. If you'd prefer to begin with an individual session before booking a half-term block, you're very welcome to do so.
Regular tuition is booked one half term at a time. Towards the end of each block, we'll review progress and discuss whether continuing into the following half term would be beneficial.

£50 per 60-minute individual session
Individual sessions can be booked before committing to a half-term block, giving your child the opportunity to experience tuition and decide whether they'd like to continue.
No ongoing commitment required.
£45 per 60-minute session
when booked in a half term block
For students continuing with regular tuition, sessions are booked in half-term blocks, with one regular 60-minute session each week.
6-week half term · £270
7-week half term · £315
Payment for half-term blocks is made in advance to secure your child's regular weekly tuition slot.
